We can finally reveal what we’ve been up to these past few months…our latest short film is now complete and doing the festival circuit!

Having worked with actor Barney Jones quite a few times now on our films, we’ve often spoken about getting a new project underway and earlier this year we set Writer/Director Kelvin Richards on the task of writing a short piece which we could make in a single location but with great effect.

Having recently read an article about the controversies surrounding the newly implemented ‘Fast Track Programme’ within the UK Police force, this immediately grabbed his attention as an issue which would make for great drama on film. The angle Kelvin took was to focus on a young person who has recently graduated from University, then completes an 18 week training course and is suddenly thrown into a high-ranking role of Detective. How would this young person respond personally and how would others already in the force respond to him; others who have spent their entire lives working their way up the ranks to achieve that same role. Throw a murder case into the mix and it proved for great drama.

Once the script was complete, we filmed the piece of the course of 4 days with a small 4 person crew starring Barney Jones and Gráinne Kelly, and upon wrapping we immediately got to the edit. The score was provided by Roger Gabalda, with short musical sets rising and falling at key dramatic moments and the colour grade by Serge Kosevtsov to really give the film a  ‘Fincher-like’ dark and moody tone, due to its subject matter.

So the film is now complete and making its way through the festival circuit worldwide so be sure to keep an eye out and we look forward to meeting some of you at the festivals! We don’t want to give too much away but here’s a couple of sneak-peek stills from the film…
